The main ceremony was held at Jinnah convention center, Islamabad, where president Mamnoon Hussain hoisted the national flag. Many big personalities and foreign dignitaries also attended the ceremony including the caretaker Prime Minister Nasirul Mulk. Change of guard, as usual, was also held at the mausoleums of Allama Iqbal and Quaid-e-Azam at Lahore and Karachi.
People rushed to markets to buy national flags, badges, t-shirts and other merchandises to show their patriotism for Pakistan.
Pakistan's fate will be decided in terms of 'Vote'
Mamnoon Hussain congratulated the crowd for the Independence Day and said, "As Independence day and General Elections come together it is a hidden message. As Pakistan had come into being with the will of the people, Pakistan's fate would also be decided in terms of vote". He also said, "Pakistan is a blessing of Allah".
Addressing the crowd, caretaker Prime Minister said, "We will not forget the sacrifices of the Kashmiris for Pakistan, and we will do anything for them that we can do under the United Nations Organizations."
President, PM's separate messages for the audience
In the separate message of President Mamnoon Hussain, terming Pakistan as a blessing of Allah, said, " Our ancestors secured this homeland for the Muslims, but it has not achieved what it deserves, and we can make this state economically better and prosperous, only when we follow the teachings of Quaid and Iqbal in our true spirits."
PM also said, "This day reminds us the sacrifices and struggles of our forefathers for this homeland and we will not forget their struggle for this state to fashion their lives according to their religion, culture, social and moral values.
We can get to the heights of glory by following Quaid's message of "Unity, Faith, Discipline"
"By faith, discipline and selfless devotion to duty, there's nothing you cannot achieve"-
'Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah'
