Is Artificial Intelligence dangerous to human beings?

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is becoming more and more famous because of its vast use in every field of life. AI is able to simulate human intelligence, for problem solving and decision making.
Strong AI and weak AI are its two types. The idea of Artificial Intelligence was proposed by McCarthy in 1956. The research went on and we are using AI in our daily lives, by now, in search engines, automated cars, playing games with our computer, robots and in displaying of ads and advertisements.
Is AI limiting the jobs human can have? or can it reach the potential of human intelligence and become harmful for humans?
In this article, we will be providing the answers of the above questions. But, at first lets consider some types and benefits of AI.

Types of Artificial Intelligence

As discussed above, weak AI and strong AI are the two types of AI:

Weak AI

We are using weak AI in our daily lives. The traffic signals, playing games with computer, using search engine, automated self-driving cars, displaying of ads all are the examples of using weak AI in our daily lives. You must have imagined that we use google in our daily lives and it is very efficient, then why it is called weak AI.
Google is called weak AI because it is limited to give us the search results, if we want it to play chess with us it would be unable to do it, it only does specific tasks that are provided to the google. Same goes with traffic signals, automated cars, playing games, with your computer and displaying ads on your website.

Strong AI

We may consider robots working in a factory for different purposes as strong AI, but they belonged to the weak AI category as they can only do what they are assigned to do.

Strong AI is hard to imagine, it may be able to compete with the human intelligence, it could be able to learn, it may face failures and success and learn from it, known as the 'reinforcement learning'. It may take some 30 to 40 years for its completion because scientists are finding a way so that it may not be able to harm humans in anyway.

Benefits of Artificial Intelligence

AI has changed the world, since its invention. Some of the main advantages of AI are its permanency, reliability, cost-effectiveness and problem solving. It does not lose information when we disconnect it from the organization it previously belonged. Its memory is permanent. It has proved its reliability, since humans began to use it. The developers see it more reliable than any other thing, because it can simulate human intelligence in the reasoning processes.
Any company can considerably reduce the staff time by adopting appropriate AI methods, thus reducing operational costs.
AI methods are suitable to use when you can't figure out the direct relationship between cause and effect. It helps you organize your data in a specific order without involving your intelligence.

Drawbacks of Artificial Intelligence

The major drawback of the AI is unemployment. If a machine can work 24/7, a human cannot, so the machine is preferred over human, thus causing unemployment.
Self automated cars work on their own and does not need any human to operate it, then why is there any need of driver?
What if, a self automated car meets an accident and causes destruction to the vehicle? Who will be held responsible?
What if the upcoming strong AI takes place of human, who has no emotions but, can simulate human intelligence, who can learn and who can compete us?
Well, there are many AI fiction stories and movies.
Explanatory answers are required for the above questions because the whole world is looking forward to the AI.

CEME NUST, another aspect of story....

There has been a rise in the controversy that the students of the College of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering, NUST are not treated nicely. However, I can assure that there is no other institution in Pakistan which can provide a healthy and grooming environment for the freshmen. They may provide you the advanced technology labs and buildings, but as a matter of fact, they will not train you for your better tomorrow as CEME does.      I am a student of CEME, and most importantly the most junior DE-40 in the CEME. I am against any of the rumors trying to damage the reputation of CEME, NUST. We are taught to be better persons for our society, we are taught to speak in front of public, we are taught to take responsibilities, we are taught to deal with the things calmly, we are taught to respect our elders and peers, we are taught to make decision quickly and precisely, we are taught to lead our life in a disciplined way.     As far as tha...

Mushkpuri Diaries

What else can be better than having fun with friends? A long awaited morning came. We were done with the OHTs, it was exhausting. Who likes exams?               A good turned evil friend of mine, kicked me out of the bed when it was 5 on the clock and I was like WTF. We reached the bus stop at 6. OK, forget about the time, we were in the Bus and we even had breakfast in the Bus. We were about to leave the boundaries of College of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering, NUST (CEME, NUST).             There were 5 Buses, we were in a great number and it was our first trip from CEME, NUST to Mushkpuri top.  4 seniors came in our Bus, afterwards. The term Senior, is often terrifying to some, but we had a lot of fun with them.         When the journey started, our beloved Class Representative (CR) started making crazy faces and moves to entertain us, but we are g...
